In our minds, eating some crazy spicy hot chicken is almost the same as going to the sauna - you're sweating out some serious fluids during both. The hot chicken competition in Tennessee is fierce, and there's one new restaurant that's bringing the heat (literally). This new Nashville hot chicken restaurant has "inferno" level spiciness and beyond, but not everyone is equipped to handle the burn.

Slow Burn Hot Chicken just opened its second location in East Nashville, which is good for locals since Tennesseans had to travel to the outlying suburbs of Madison to satisfy cravings before.

There's an abundance of flavors to choose from including "sprinkle" and "singe" to "purgatory, "inferno," and "the end," depending on how much you want to sweat while chowing down.

If you're up for scorching off your taste buds, there's an off-menu secret spice. "Elephant repellant," the spiciest of them all, lives up to its name, being doused in cayenne pepper.

Chicken is clearly the specialty here, but all the flavor isn't restricted to a single item. You can transform your favorite fish and seafood into a slow burned specialty, along with pork and a never-ending selection of sides adding some variety to the menu.

It'll also eventually be an unexpected spot for a weekend breakfast, sporting hot chicken takes on omelets, burritos and bowls all for $10 and under.

A reigning fan favorite at the original location is the hot chicken and donut sandwich. Take the hot chicken breast of your choosing and stuff it between two glazed donut buns (or apple fritters) for a calorific take on sweet but savory.

Only a limited menu is available at the moment as the soft opening was just on February 1, so expect a slow rollout of the original menu items.

For now, stick to ordering the tenders, breast, leg quarters, fish and whiting.

The entire menu is made-to-order, so you'll probably experience a little wait for something super fresh. It's also takeout only, so get comfortable witnessing several people devouring food in their cars.
