Gumbo is the perfect meal to devour in the springtime, especially if you live in Texas. Louisianians may think they've got it down to a science, but we'd argue Texans do as well. Putting this theory to a test is a gumbo and boudin festival in San Antonio taking place in just a few months at none other than Bentley's Beer Garden. On Saturday, March 14 Bentley's Beer Garden is hosting a Gumbo and Boudin Fest from 4 to 10 p.m. Bentley's Beer Garden is a newcomer to Austin and is located at 802 N Alamo St, in case you're unfamiliar. Though it's not quite open yet, it certainly will be fully opened come March! Everyone does gumbo differently, and this particular beer garden will blow you away with their own special twist on a dish that's been around for centuries. If you're not familiar with and have never tried gumbo, now is your chance. And by "now," we mean this spring. View this post on Instagram Decided to make a fun meal using those amazing Memphis Sausages from my friends @porterroad with a variety of @gustusvitae seasonings for one incredible batch of Gumbo. In fact I will certainly make this again as it was both filling and flavorful. Hopefully you caught the process in my story. Thanks again for all the continued support! . ✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴ Follow me @bluetravelz 🌊🏄 ✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴ . 1. Heat the oil in a large dutch oven or a heavy bottom pot over medium-high heat. 2. AKA bluetravelz (@meatthecook) on Nov 23, 2019 at 12:42pm PST At the fest, chicken, shrimp, and sausage gumbo bowls with rice are $10 per bowl, a total steal. A boudin link is $8 and equally as delicious! Especially if you're a fan of sausage. The event doesn't end until they run out of food, so you may be there even after 10 p.m. Though we doubt a good amount of food will still be around by then, with how delicious it all is. Houston's second annual gumbo cook-off is just five days away, so if you're near the area you're in luck! Or simply looking for an excuse to grab your BFF and hit the road. Seafood, which, if you're a fan of gumbo is right up your alley, is also getting a moment in the spotlight during San Antonio's cajun festival this March. So much to look forward to!
