I Tried DQ's New Cotton Candy Dipped Cone & This Is My Honest Opinion
It tastes like summer.
Spring is just around the corner, and one of the most iconic flavors is coming with it: cotton candy. This beloved treat tastes like a hot summer day hanging out with friends at the local county fair. And Dairy Queen's new cotton candy dipped cone is harnessing that nostalgia to bring the coolest new gotta-have-it sweet to a location near you.
This latest flavor creation follows up on last year's delicious dipped cone debuts: Dreamsicle and Midnight Fudge.
Currently, the DQ website says the cotton candy-dipped cone is "coming soon," but as evidenced by my recent trip to a franchise location in New Port Richey, Florida, over the weekend, some restaurants are already getting a taste.
Speaking of taste — if you are wondering how this cotton candy cone measures up to a, you will be pleased to hear it was A-MAZ-ING.
The candy-coated light blue dipped cone was crunchy, refreshing, and surprisingly the perfect amount of sweet. The two flavors (cotton candy and vanilla) went perfectly together.
Who would have known?
I was pleasantly surprised by the new menu item and it brought back a lot of memories from one of my favorite childhood candies.
A small cone, which is 330 calories, according to their official nutritional fact sheet, was more than enough for me to sample the deliciousness without getting too much of a sugar rush in one sitting.
Of course, if you're looking to share, a large might be a better choice, because you probably won't be able to get enough!
