This Tiki Bar In North Georgia Will Make You Feel Like You're On A Tropical Island
Be on beach time, any time.
When we find ourselves stuck in a daydream fantasy, we might see visions of clear blue water, white sand and a beachfront tiki bar with a tropical drink in hand. These fabulous island bars can be found in many places throughout the Caribbean and Mediterranean, but there’s a close second right here just outside of Atlanta. If you want to send your tastebuds on a tropical staycation, you have to visit Chiringa, an island-themed tiki bar and restaurant in Alpharetta that makes you feel like you’re on beach time.
Aptly named, Chiringa is short for "Chiringuito" which is an open-air, beachside bar or restaurant. According their official website, one of the co-owners actually spent lots of time at these Chiringuitos during his travels abroad. He fell in love with the vibes, social community and brightly colored kites (kite is the literal English translation for "Chiringa"). This is what inspired the restaurant's beach cuisine and its parallel beach atmosphere.
Chiringa’s beach vibes are immediately visible from the exterior, and you definitely won’t miss it when you’re passing through downtown Alpharetta. It sits alone on South Main Street atop a bright grassy “island” where people often picnic or do yoga.
Chiringa opened at the end of 2018 by the co-founder of Tin Lizzy's, one of Atlanta’s most popular Mexican joints. That alone should give you hints about how delicious the food and drinks are. Lucky for us, this is currently Chiringa's only location.
Right when you step into Chiringa, your island fantasies suddenly begin to come true. The atmosphere is something you’d find in a tropical beachside restaurant or bar. There’s a full service bar with freshly squeezed tropical drinks like Island Lemonade made with two types of rum, pineapple juice and fresh-squeezed lemonade.
They offer amazing and unique island foods made with fresh fish, organic grass-fed beef, antibiotic-free chicken and more. Some menu items include a Mediterranean salad, Baja tacos and a paella-style bowl.
You may not be on the beach, but you can enjoy your beachy refreshments outside on the spacious patio with beach-themed lounge chairs near the grass area in front. If you like dining and drinking "al fresca", you have to check out these
An added bonus is that you're getting fresh and delicious quality for a super cheap price; nothing on their menu is above $15.
