The Atlanta Police Department (APD) is turning to the public for information about the murder of Tony-nominated actor and Atlanta native, Thomas Jefferson Byrd. \nByrd is best known for his work in several Spike Lee films including, Chi-Raq, Bamboozled, and He Got Game.\nAPD has offered a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect(s) in Byrd's case.\n\n\n“\n\n\nMay Brother Byrd Be Flying Through Those Heavenly Pearly Gates.\n\n\nSpike Lee\n\n\n\nPolice responded to reports of multiple gunshots on Saturday, where they found Byrd unresponsive.*\nHe was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the back.*\nLee took to Instagram upon hearing the news about Byrd, sharing several posts with emotional captions paying tribute to his friend. \nPolice believe they are looking for a suspect, but have no information about the motive in the fatal shooting. \nAPD is asking anyone with information to contact the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit, Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477 or online at StopCrimeATL.com. \n*Editor's note: This article has been updated.
