Those looking to visit Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta right in the Downtown area will have to hold off for a while, as it's been closed indefinitely to the public as of Monday, July 6.

COVID-19 has hit many businesses and this park is no exception. Due to the financial impacts of the virus canceling the park's array of summer activities, there's no reopening date currently in sight.

The Park relies on operating support from GWCC and without event activities on our campus the costs associated with maintaining public access to the Park is not feasible.

According to AJC, the park has been actively used for protests since the death of George Floyd, with a rally recently hosted there on Saturday.

Impacts from the novel coronavirus also canceled the Fourth of July firework show that was to happen at Centennial Olympic Park.

During this time, the GWCA will be focusing on "preserving the green space and landscape in anticipation of daily use sometime in the future."
