The world is standing still from the news of Kobe Bryant's tragic death. It was reported earlier today, January 26, that a helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California, carrying nine passengers including Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna (AKA Gigi).

In a press conference this afternoon, Los Angeles County Sherriff Alex Villanueva confirmed the helicopter's passenger manifest which shows nine people were on board.

There are no confirmed details of why the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter crashed in the hills of Calabasas, 30 miles outside of Los Angeles.

An investigation is currently underway by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. Eyewitnesses reported hearing the engine sputtering and seeing fire from the helicopter before the crash.

Among the victims were Orange Coast baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa; Christina Mauser; and Sarah and Payton Chester. The pilot's name remains unknown.*

At the age of 41, Kobe has touched the lives of millions of all ages, even outside of the basketball world. Many people have looked to him as the example for hard work, determination and discipline.

Fans across the world are honoring his legacy in many ways. During the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards today at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Kobe's retired LA Lakers jerseys remained illuminated during the duration of the show.

At the opening, host Alicia Keys performs a tribute to Kobe and his family along with R&B group Boyz II Men.

There are not enough words or actions that can truly commemorate the life, legacy and legend that is Kobe Bryant, however the world is showing their respects in every way possible.

Tonight, the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta glows purple and gold in honor of Mambo. Celebrities from every industry are sharing their thoughts and memories of Kobe and Gianna.

Atlanta Hawk Trae Young honored his long-time hero by wearing one of his retired numbers during the game against the Washington Wizards at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Trae also tweeted his memories of meeting Gianna for the first time earlier this month.

Trae tweets, "...This S*** can’t be real... this the first moment I was able to meet Gianna Maria, she’s been to only 3 games this year... 2 of them were mine... She told me I was her favorite player to watch I can’t believe thisRest Easy Gigi."

Kobe Bryant is survived by wife of 19 years Vanessa and their three daughters, Natalia, Bianka and Capri.

This is a developing story and Narcity will update as new information is released.

Our hearts and prayers go to the families of the victims.*
