Nearly 1 Million People Have Already Been Tested For COVID-19 In Georgia
And the number is rising.
Eight to 9% of these tests have come back positive and there have been over 81,000 cases in the Peach State since March.
Tests expected to be administered before the end of the week
The state saw the highest number of positive cases in a day on Saturday, June 20, coming in at 1,800 and then 892 cases the very next day.
There's no requirement for masks from Governor Kemp yet, but Mayor Van Johnson of Savannah signed an order yesterday to mandate masks in public around the South Georgia city.
"I am a realist, not an alarmist. The real data shows that COVID-19 cases are rising at an alarming number. It is simple, wear a mask," said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta.
