Sunshine State residents, now is a great time to prepare your hurricane kits, as Florida's peak hurricane season is officially here.

Two tropical storms emerged over the Labor Day weekend, with Paulette and Rene both forming over the Atlantic Ocean on Monday.

Since we are nearing peak hurricane season, always check back for updates and make sure emergency kits are ready!

National Weather Service

The beginning of September is when the Atlantic Ocean goes into peak hurricane form

The state advises that every Floridian should have the basic needs covered during a hurricane, including non-perishable foods, flashlights, water, and batteries, among other essentials.
