A 12-year-old boy was arrested yesterday for bringing three guns to his Florida school.

At The Lighthouse Christian School in Nassau County, a teacher noticed the student had two lunchboxes that appeared heavier than normal and asked to look inside, discovering two firearms.

The student and weapons were secured and law enforcement was called.

The student’s mother told the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office that the boy likely got the weapons from an unlocked safe, and that he had also recently killed a family dog with a pellet rifle.

A third gun was found on the student’s person and secured while he was being supervised by a deputy.

The student is charged for possessing weapons on school property and was arrested and booked into the Nassau County Detention Facility.
