Schools are supposed to be a safe place for the children attending, but as we have seen many times before, unfortunately, that is not always the case. Since all the deadly school incidents, Florida police are on alert after a bomb threat was made at River Ridge High School.

River Ridge High School is located in New Port Richey on Florida's west coast Pasco County region. According to US News, there are currently over 1,600 students enrolled at the school in grades 6-12 and 97 full-time teachers.

Yesterday Pasco County police took to Facebook to share news of a bomb threat made at the school. A portion of the post reads:

"The Pasco Sheriff's Office is investigating a message that was found written on a dry erase board at River Ridge High School in New Port Richey. The message is considered a bomb threat and was discovered by a student during dismissal this afternoon. There is no evidence to suggest that the threat is real, but deputies are conducting an investigation into who wrote the message."

The post also states that making such threats carries a very real possibility of serious criminal implications if the person is caught.

This is not the first time bomb threats have been made at River Ridge. A 17-year-old female student, Kaitlyn Leigh Deshazo was facing charges for threats made in August 2018.

It was tips from classmates that ultimately led authorities to her arrest, and she was charged with a felony. More information about this story is here

Since tips worked so well last time, police are again asking for the public's assistance identifying whoever made the threats, and anyone with information is urged to call their crime tip line at 1-800-706-2488.
