Hurricane season is here and with it comes the constant storms; and it doesn't look like they're going away any time soon. According to The Weather Channel, the entire 10-day forecast for Central Florida and surrounding areas has nothing but storms in sight.

Starting tonight Aug. 14 until Wednesday, Aug. 28, we central Floridians are looking at 15 straight days of thunderstorms & scattered rain showers. Humidity percentages are expected to reach the high 70s and low 80s.

You may want to pack an umbrella or don your yellow poncho and give yourself an extra 10-15 minutes for your daily drive to work.

Generally, rain brings slightly cooler weather, with temperatures expected to dip down into the high 80s during the day, with the lows reaching the mid to low 70s. At least the temps won't be unbearable if we do have to go outside.

While it may be tempting to go out and dance in the rain or admire the lightning storms as they crash across the sky, lightning is dangerous — it's important to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself safe when you hear thunder or see storm clouds rolling in.

Florida is no stranger to deadly thunderstorms and lightning fatalities. Stay away from open areas of land, bodies of water, and seek shelter in an enclosed building or vehicle.

While we won't be going to the springs or the beach anytime soon, we Floridians are lucky to have so many awesome indoor places to ride out the storms, like the gorgeous Chihuly Exhibit in St. Pete.
