Seattle Humane Is Waiving Adoption Fees All November For Pets Aged 8 and Up
You can't buy love, but you can rescue it!
What's more rewarding than adopting a pet? Adopting a senior pet, of course! November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, a month dedicated to helping older pets find their forever homes. So, Seattle Humane is waiving adoption fees for pets aged eight and up.
Through their "Love is Ageless" event running until the end of this month, the shelter is looking to find loving homes for the often-overlooked senior cats and dogs.
Even better? The fees are waived if the paws you want to take home are over eight years old!
According to the ASPCA, 6.5 million pets make their way to animal shelters in the United States each year. Devastatingly, only half of them are adopted.
This shelter sees a huge influx of a variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, gerbils, and hamsters.
Many causes of animals coming to the shelter are due to owners becoming too ill to take care of their pets or not having the means to own a pet anymore.
But there's a silver lining: They are a no-kill refuge — meaning, homeless pets stay with them until they are adopted — no matter how long it takes.
That is why the Seattle Humane is eliminating the adoption fees from now until Saturday, November 30, 2019, for some of their animals. In fact, they believe that these old guys come with their own perks.
They note that you can skip the messes a puppy is bound to make, and some of those kitten catastrophes by adopting a pre-trained senior pet.
Adopting from the Seattle Humane usually costs between $5 for hamsters and up to $350 for puppies under 6 months of age. This fee helps them get the best of medical care, training, and food for all other shelter animals.
If you're ready to add them to your family, you can find the process detailed here. But they do recommend stopping by their Bellevue center to find a fur-bug available for some extra lovin'.
You can go through the stories of every pooch and kitty that's up for adoption. The Adoption Advisors will also help you find a paw-some companion that will perfectly fit your lifestyle.
It's the perfect time to become a paw-parent and give a senior pet their best golden years to come.
