The new warning allows the local department of health to shift its resources to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"We are at a critical moment in our COVID-19 recovery journey," said Claudia Blackburn, Leon County's health officer. “With increased contact among non-household members, there are many more opportunities for transmission of COVID-19, particularly if public health directives are not followed. Our collective responsibility is to take immediate action, as individuals and businesses, to reverse the trends we are experiencing.”
Florida, as a whole, has endured a record spike of COVID-19 cases since early June.
