As the season inches closer to shorter days and cooler nights, Florida weather is still scorching with another heat advisory warning against excessive temps and triple-digit heat indexes, making parts of Florida feel as hot as Death Valley.

All of Tampa Bay is under a heat advisory today, with the National Weather Service reporting temps in the high 90s, but with heat index "feel like" temperature values between 108 and 112.

In comparison, Death Valley is forecasted to reach a high of 119 degrees today.

The heat advisory is in effect for southwest and west-central Florida, from noon to 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that the dangerously high heat index values are a result of a combination of hot temperatures and increased tropical moisture.
