With temps already rising in the Sunshine State, everyone’s favorite watering holes will soon start to fill with desperate Floridians trying to escape the heat. At Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, Buccaneer Bay's doors are now officially open. A cool hot spot for Florida locals, get ready to splash, slide, and float around in this crystal-clear natural spring — and check out everything the park has to offer. This classic Florida spring is known for its mermaid shows, manatees, and super clear waters; Buccaneer Bay is a great place to make waves, featuring four massive slides, white sandy shores, a natural lazy river, and a delicious seasonal restaurant. The park was recently closed for maintenance from late February to mid-March, and just officially opened this Friday 13, 2020. Who said the 13th had to be unlucky, eh? From now until March 22, the waterslides, lazy river, and kiddie pool will be open daily. Beginning March 23 until May 29, those attractions will only be open on the weekends until they open again for daily visitors from May 30 to August 9. August 10 to September 27, they’ll be exclusively open on the weekends again, until they close for the off-season in late September. Luckily the swimming area will be open daily through the entire schedule — including offseason. The springs offer stunning snorkeling spots, and you can also tour the area via canoe or stand up paddleboard with rentals from Weeki Fresh Water Adventures.
