Atlanta United is on fire right now. ATL UTD is fresh off a major win against Mexican giants Club America for the Campeones Cup. The win was major validation, not only for the club but for MLS as a whole. But honestly the best part of the latest ATL United game (Aug. 18) happened even before kickoff.

Just days later, ATL UTD was in Portland to face the Timbers in a crucial MLS regular season game. Fans and members of the media were quick to remind each other that the last time these two sides faced each other, they were competing for the MLS title back in December.

But Sunday's match had an entirely different dynamic. The Clubs are not the same Clubs they were in December. Atlanta is on the better side of what seems to be tough growing pains under new manager Frank De Boer. Portland has not seemed like the dominant MLS powerhouse of season's past.

That said, both teams were still aware of how crucial the match would be beforehand. Atlanta was on the hunt for the coveted top spot in the East and Portland was looking for some breathing room as the Timbers try to stay alive in the Western Conference playoff hunt. Players knew their respective tasks at hand and had their game faces ready. Or did they?...

As players from the two MLS clubs walked onto the pitch from the tunnel at Providence Park in Portland, the FS1 camera crew was at the ready. Seemingly, locked and loaded to catch these elite athletes before they step onto their battlefield.

Instead, what TV audiences saw was one of the funniest and cutest things one could see before a soccer match.

It's hard not to smile after watching this. We could leave it on a loop all day.

Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez makes light of the similarity in height between him and his on-field escort in the nicest way.

Unfortunately for Portland, things only got a lot more awkward for Fernandez and the rest of their squad form then on.

ATL UTD went on to win 2-0 in convincing fashion. Check out this nasty second goal.

As for Brian Fernandez, he continues to keep his head up even after the match. He took to Instgram to post an uplifting message.

Now at the top of the East, ATL UTD will look to continue their impressive run in Orlando against arch rivals, Orlando City on Friday night.
