The Year is 2004 and Shaquille O’Neal’s Lakers were fresh off of their fourth NBA title in five years under head coach Phil Jackson. After clinching his latest NBA championship, ‘The Diesel’ wanted to let viewers know that the feat accomplished by Jackson would never be duplicated. So the future Hall of Famer did so in the only way he knew how.\nShaq made the bet of a lifetime, and more than 10 years later it's coming back to haunt him -- and we are cringing pretty hard.\n(2004) “If a coach takes a team to the Finals 4 out of 5 years, I’ll kiss his feet on fear factor, with cheese on it. It will never be done again.”- @shaq CC: @SteveKerr(via Reddit/GoodSamaritan_, H/t @_gillygilly_) pic.twitter.com/F3LQD0ktGQ— Freezing Cold Takes (@OldTakesExposed) July 14, 2019\nWell, here we are in 2019 and it turns out that Steve Kerr has managed to accomplished the feat Shaq once thought would impossible to do. In fact, Kerr did not just accomplish it, he set a new standard entirely.\nKerr led his Golden State Warriors to not just four - but five - NBA Finals appearances in five years. So you may be wondering plenty of things right about now. "Why, Shaq? Why?!" Or perhaps, "What ran through Shaq's mind when he decided to add cheese into the mix? Was the foot licking not enough?" But the main question is, “Why has this gross wager come back up a year too late?”\nFor that, we can all thank David West. The two-time NBA champ played under Kerr in Golden State from 2016 to 2018. West subtweeted the now-infamous Shaq quote and made sure to bring it to his former coach’s attention.\n👀🤢 https://t.co/6FFhTD9jcO— David West (@D_West30) July 15, 2019\nInevitably, Kerr caught wind of the story. However, perhaps for his and Shaq’s own well being, he let the big guy off the hook.\nHey @SHAQ, I’m going to do us both a favor and pretend that @D_West30 didn’t send this to me this morning. pic.twitter.com/oFhpTPYjOo— Steve Kerr (@SteveKerr) July 16, 2019\nBut let’s not forget whom we’re dealing with here, folks. Shaquille O’Neal is a man of his word. If this former Miami Beach reserve officer says he’ll lick your cheesy feet, he means it.\n@SteveKerr I guess I’ll c u in fear factor, and make sure it’s kraft cheese lol— SHAQ (@SHAQ) July 16, 2019\nMTV rebooted the famous TV show back in 2017. Former rapper Ludacris has been the host for the third iteration of the show. However, after two seasons, it is unclear when or if the show will return for a third season. Perhaps Shaq's recent comments may be all the MTV execs needed to go for season three.\nRegardless of the hypothetical venue, should the former Heat center face punishment for his old bet, the Narcity Florida team will surely keep you in the loop.
