You Can Create A Candle And Drink Wine At This Atlanta Workshop This Summer
And it's BYOB, bottom's up!
If you love amazing-scented candles and would love a glass of wine even more, you have to visit Candlefish this summer. At this candle workshop in Atlanta, you can drink wine and create your own candle at the same time. Located inside of Ponce City Market, Candlefish is a vast wonderland of over 100 fragrance options to build the candle of your dreams. It's both fancy, aesthetically-pleasing and therapeutic. It's BYOB so you don't have to spend a fortune on a bottle, however drinking glasses are provided.
Candlefish originally opened in Charleston, SC in 2014. The Atlanta location opened in 2016 and has seen much success over the past few years. Candlefish offers an incredible fragrance library of unique scents, but you must smell the candle to learn its scent.
A "candle connoisseur" will gather your preferred scents and lift each one off of the wall of candles for you to taste with your nose. Each candle is numbered such as "No. 63", but shows no other indication of its contents. You truly must trust your nose to guide you to your dream candle.
This trust will be applied to your candle-making workshop too, also led by your personal candle connoisseur, who will guide you through the process of choosing, blending and pouring your candles. You get to go home with two 9-ounce candles the following day, after they set overnight.
In addition to the candle workshops, Candlefish has a fragrance-blending workshop. Here, you will learn how to mix essential oils (so zen) and other oils to create your ideal scent. You can also use your special fragrance to create your one-of-a-kind candle.
These workshops are offered year round, but there's something fresh and new launching this summer. Candlefish is offering its first-ever "Bring-Your-Own Vessel" workshop. This BYOV class lets you bring your own container to house your custom candle. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your creativity. Bring a mason jar, coffee mug, wine glass, whatever your heart desires.
The BYOV class is only offered a few times a year and the next session is scheduled for July 11th. Each workshop seats about 12 people so snag a spot while you still can.
Class prices range from $50-$65. The BYOV workshop is $50, the traditional candle-making workship is $55 and the fragrance-blending workshop is $65. Classes are offered every day of the week from 10am - 7pm and you can sign-up on their site.
The site also offers pre-made candles for purchasing because you can never have too many candles. This is the perfect reason to
Candlefish also hosts monthly workshops where local creators come in and host their own master classes. They call them Maker Breaks (giving the candle-makers a break, get it?). Past Maker Break classes involved soap-making, essential oil perfume mixing and crafting your own leather wallet.
