You can have your pie, and eat it, too — 24 hours a day, seven days a week — at the Berdoll Pecan Candy & Gift Company’s pecan pie vending machine. Yes, you read that right. And, this piece of pecan paradise is thought to be the only one like it in the United States, doling out decadent goodness that puts those standard snack machines to shame.\nBy the way, your last-minute holiday potluck dessert dilemma just became, well, as easy as pie. You’re welcome.\n@happilyeverbrennanembedded via\nBut, this vending machine was basically born out of necessity — and not just for last-minute desserts. The family-owned Berdoll Pecan Candy shop couldn’t keep up with the around-the-clock demand for their signature, sticky-sweet pies during normal business hours. So, they put the machine to work for them.\n@sparkleuvaembedded via\nBut, don’t think you’re not getting a homemade, fresh-from-the-oven pie; they’re baked daily. The Berdoll fam is even having to pull double and triple duty now during the festive season, restocking the goodness several times a day, including around midnight.\nOf course, if you want to visit this charming shop during the day, there are plenty of other treats to sink your teeth into, including homemade fudge, chocolate-covered strawberries, candied pecans, baked goods, and more.\n@cyinformateembedded via\nJust look for the giant, 14-foot-tall squirrel — her name is Ms. Pearl btw— on Highway 71 between Bastrop and Austin. You can’t miss her.\n@zachariahsimonembedded via\nFYI: There are security cameras placed around the vending machine. And, the footage from said cameras might be known to provide some serious entertainment for the staff. Every day, they review activity from the previous night So, don’t get too crazy with that pie stop.
