For some, Mississippi is a state to simply drive through on their way to either Florida, Louisiana, or Texas. However, this will rob you of the sheer beauty and adventures the Magnolia State has to offer. One of those offerings sits in the small town of Cyrstal Springs, which is home to a superb gem known as Chautauqua Park in Mississippi

Situated 25 miles south from the state capital, this park is the crown jewel of the town. With 74-acres of pristine Mississippi countryside, it's just begging to be explored. Rolling hills and beautiful waterways fill the area, as well as a lake that is perfect for swimming on those sweltering hot Mississippi summer days.

While the lake is the centerpiece of this sprawling nature escape, the standout at Chautauqua Park is the trails, which are some of the best in Mississippi

The park contains two trails, the first being The Tree Top Trail, which consists of a 1,500-foot elevated wooden boardwalk giving walkers a one-of-a-kind view of the woods that is worthy of an Instagram moment. Just the views of the streams and nature will give one a sense of peace and tranquility.

Despite the name, the Tree Top Trail isn't a tough one to navigate. The loop trail is an easy jaunt, so for those who aren't used to hiking challenging trails, this path will provide a gorgeous starting point for awaking your inner hiker.

Once you've completed the Tree Top Trail, then you'll be ready for the park's second trek, The Trail of Tranquility, which you'll easily spot as an iconic archway marks its start.

While it is a bit more challenging, it's still suitable for hikers of all stripes and provides even more beautiful views of nature. It also features a swinging bridge and an absolute jaw-dropping view of one of the many streams that populate the area.

So why are you waiting? Grab your hiking shoes, pack a bookbag, and get to hiking through this scenic nature escape.
