Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art full of East Texas trees, a swimming lake, hiking, and basically exactly like the perfect Daingerfield State Park in the warm Texas months! Just a short 2-hour drive from Dallas, the Daingerfield State Park is the perfect summer day trip deep in the East Texas forest.

Here, you can find it all — a swimming hole, picnic area, grassy beach, canoes, and endless trails.

They even have kayaks and paddleboards available for rent, perfect for the clear water or the part of the lake with tons of beautiful lily pads.

The park is located in the city of Daingerfield, a small Texas town with all the charm.

East Texas is full of these hidden gems, so be sure to make time to swing by Synergy Park/Elder Lake, or the eerie Caddo Lake on your trip.

Spanning 507 acres, there's no shortage of land to explore. And with all that forest comes plenty of shade against the harsh summer sun.

They have two hiking trails. The Rustling Leaves Trail is the easier 2.4-mile hike that takes you around the lake.

They also have the Mountain View Trail that stretches 1.2 miles long. But don't let the shorter distance fool you — it's deemed the more difficult trail. It will take you to the highest point in the park, and the views from up there are always worth the hike.

On your hike, you can find mini waterfalls, water holes, and flowing rivers that are sure to make your trip an adventurous one.

You can even set up camp here, sleep under the East Texas starry sky, and wake up to the sunrise over the lake.
