For some reason, we have always had a fascination with flying. As humans, we didn’t get the advantage of having wings but we made planes that get us as close to flying as possible. The Founder's Plaza in Grapevine lets you sit and relax while you watch planes land and take off. The spectacular view is by a field where you can take your date to have an amazing picnic like no other. The plaza has picnic tables for all to enjoy and a telescope so you can get a closer view of the planes. In 1995, the plaza was dedicated to the founders of DFW Airport as a thank you for helping add to the economy. There are several statues around the plaza that show molded airplanes that are extremely close to the real thing. There is a field where visitors can sit for a while and relax. You'll also be able to hear the broadcast of ground control as they help the planes land. The broadcast is played on speakers by the picnic table area, giving you a really cool experience like no other. The planes will be close enough for a picture or two but you'll still be completely safe. Over the years, people have gotten quite creative with their pictures at the plaza so don't be afraid to have a little fun.
