In Texas, telling someone to "take a hike" isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially with how incredible the views are in some parts of the state. Depending on where you go, you could have to walk, jog, or even climb to experience the best of the best. A park near Fort Worth is home to one of the only natural rock-climbing spots in North Texas, and once you've started your climb, the sky is the limit!\nLake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway is less than an hour away from Ft. Worth and home to Penitentiary Hollow, where "climber" can become your middle name.\nTo get into the park, admittance is just $7 for adults. Once you've made your way to Penitentiary Hollow, there'll be a climbing fee of $3.\nIn total, you'll spend $10 to have the time of your life.\nTo climb, you must be at least seventeen and for those under age, a parent or guardian must be present or have written permission from said parent or guardian.\nFor those not quite ready to give outdoor rock-climbing a shot, there's still plenty to do and see at the park.\nView this post on Instagram psa: I’m not very good at climbing big rocks A post shared by rachel elizabeth (@rachel.baumann_) on May 7, 2020 at 8:01pm PDT\nThe park is surrounded by a lake and miles of beautiful trails to ride horses, go geocaching, fish, boat, hike, and more.\nCamping is also available for those looking to continue with the fun the next day. Most days, I have not left my house longer than an hour each day. Yesterday, I decided to change that. I got in my car and went for an adventure to @lakemineralwells .It was perfect just to lay in the sun next to the lake and go on some hikes. The next few weeks or months I will be visiting most of the State parks of Texas. They gave me so much joy just to be in nature and relax in these trying times. @texashighways @hikingtexas @traveltex @texasparkswildlife #texas #traveltexas #statepark #hikingadventures #hikingtrails #hiking_daily #hiking_hobby #hikinglove #hiking_my_life #daytrip #daytripper #dallas #texas_ig #texasphotography #hiking🌲 #hiking👣 #bealpha #rocklife A post shared by Anik Das (@freakanik) on Apr 30, 2020 at 7:19am PDT\nSeeing as how Penitentiary Hollow is one of the only of its kind in North Texas, you don't want to miss out on your chance to experience it.\nThe weather is just right these days, so if you plan a trip sometime soon you'll have hit the sweet spot for traveling in Texas.\nView this post on Instagram A post shared by Molly Magee (@m_magee) on May 3, 2020 at 7:07pm PDT\nLake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway\nPrice: Free - $7\nAddress: 100 Park Rd. 71, Mineral Wells, TX\nWhy You Need To Go: There are some incredible views to be seen in Texas and after a quick rock-climbing session here you'll experience some of the best.\nWebsite\n\n\nWe strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures.
