With movie theaters and theme parks likely closed until the summer, many amusement spots are looking for a way to bring in people and revenue. In recent weeks, there has been a surge of interest in a classic, movie outing experience. The owners of a large indoor theme park are transforming their parking lot into a Florida drive-in theater.\nDezerland Park in Miami will officially start hosting drive-in movie nights every Friday through July 3, beginning Friday, May 22.\nThey plan to construct a 22-foot-by-40-foot screen in its parking lot, but the sound from the movies has been upgraded from the portable speaker boxes to transmit from your car radios. Dezerland is propping up the experience by including food options that can be ordered through a phone app and delivered to your window.\nThe drive-in will practice social distancing guidelines set forth by Miami-Dade County and North Miami officials. Cars will be spaced 6 feet apart, allowing a maximum of 150 vehicles per film. In March, the park initially closed in an attempt to tamp down the spread of the novel coronavirus.
