Visiting a garden is by far one of the most peaceful ways to spend your day. Being surrounded by stunning flowers and majestic nature is something the state of Texas does not lack in. Some cost money to visit, and others are completely free. Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden in Nacogdoches, Texas is a free garden near Houston that will blow you away with its beauty and its history.

This stunning garden flourishes from a partnership between Stephen F. Austin State University horticulture program and the citizens of Nacogdoches. Back in 1997, it was determined that gardens such as this one play a key role in education, and we couldn't agree more. The garden is now the #1 stop along Nacogdoches Azalea Trail!

Gliding through this garden with a loved one or a group of friends is the perfect way to spend any season, and especially summer. While Vitamin D is at its peak, it's the perfect time for spending your days outdoors. Snapping a few shots here and there for your Instagram is just a plus!

This garden is a total of eight acres long and open to each and every person who wants to visit. There's no time limit, no cost,  and pets are more than welcome! The next time you're on the road or near Houston, this garden is a stop you have to make.
