Texas summers might be long and hot but Texas sure knows how to make the most of it by giving residents tons of opportunities to eat refreshing food and enjoy outdoor rides. One of these opportunities is a massive annual strawberry festival near Houston that has an even more massive strawberry shortcake!

Pasadena's Strawberry Festival is coming back May 15 through May 17 and makes for a great way to spend a summer weekend. The Strawberry Fest has been going on for years now and it's always a hit with the locals.

This festival offers a unique way to celebrate strawberries and it's a good deal too. A single day pass is $12 but if you want to attend the entire weekend, the three-day pass is only $30!

There's plenty of stuff to do all three days, including an exciting carnival, complete with a giant Ferris Wheel and a bunch of fair games.

There will also be a main stage playing music all weekend long so you can grab a drink or a box of strawberries and listen to different musicians play.

However, we know why you're really interested in this festival. You can join in on devouring the world's largest strawberry shortcake that is baked and served at the festival every year.

The cake is so massive it's got a bigger square footage than some houses at 2,073 square feet and weighs in at a whopping 21,578 pounds, with over a ton of that being just strawberries, glaze, and frosting!

If you've been really eyeing the cake and want to make sure you get a hefty slice, the cake cutting happens during the opening ceremony on Friday at 5 p.m.

We recommend attending the event on Friday night if you want to ensure you get a slice of the insane cake. Either way, the cake is so insanely huge we're sure it's going to take a while before it's all gone.

With this festival, it's clear to see that once summer starts to come around, strawberries become a big deal here in Houston. There are plenty of places where you can go pick-your-own berries as well!
