This Massive New Orleans Festival In March Has Unlimited Margaritas & Tacos
Yes, perfect events do exist.
Unlimited tacos and margaritas sound like a dream, right? But at Top Taco it's reality. Top Taco is the only all-you-can-eat taco and margarita festival in New Orleans, and it never disappoints. It's in March, but Early Bird tickets are available right now if you wanna save some cash.
Top Taco started in 2017 and since then, it's gotten even bigger and better. For the past couple of years, Top Taco has been one of the best places to taste tacos from all over the New Orleans region. Chefs and mixologists from over 40 restaurants bring their A-game in hopes of winning the Top Taco title.
In 2020, Top Taco will be held on March 19 in Woldenberg Park. Early bird tickets are available now, which means you can get $25 off general admission, First Tasting and VIP tickets.
When you enter the event, you're given coins to make your pick for "Top Traditional Taco," "Top Creative Taco," "Best Margarita," and "Top Tequila Drink." As your tasting, you'll be alongside infamous locals who will be judging as well. Then, at the end of the night, winners will be announced.
In 2019, the biggest Top Taco winner was Johnny Sanchez. The modern taqueria is led by Master Chef judge and food network chef Aarón Sánchez and Miles Landrem. Both of whom can be spotted at Top Taco each year, making and handing out their delicious tacos.
Last year, Johnny Sanchez took home both the judges and people's choice award for "Top Creative Taco" and, for the second year in a row, nabbed the overall championship title, the "David Montes de Oca Ultimate Top Taco Champion."
The top title was named after the late owner of Taqueria Chilangos, David Montes, who walked out of Top Taco in its debut year with almost every award.
But this event is about more than tacos and margs. Proceeds from the event benefit The PLEASE Foundation. The PLEASE Foundation provides mentoring, leadership training, and scholarships to at-risk students in New Orleans. So while you're chowing down and drinking up, think about all the good you're doing!
Although the event is pretty much about tacos and margaritas, they have more than that. Last year they had a Mexican wrestling show, chambongs (if you don't know what chambongs are,), and an "I Love Tacos" Insta backdrop that was super cute. If you want a more margarita greatness, check out the second spot
