Nothing screams “springtime” more than the sweet scent of freshly picked strawberries, and what better way to enjoy them than by picking them right off the vine yourself? As the Sunshine State, it’s no surprise that Florida is full of u-pick produce farms, from the pumpkins in the fall to the strawberries right about now. At Pappy’s Patch, you can wander through fields of vibrant berries and go home with pounds of fresh produce to kick off spring with.

Pappy’s Patch can be found in Oviedo, just a short drive from the heart of Orlando. Their Facebook page stays pretty active, and they recently updated it to report that both of their fields are open and bursting with berries.

You can get a pound of berries for $3, and 10% off of ten pounds or more if you’ve really caught the strawberry bug! They accept cash, credit, and check.

Pappy’s doesn’t keep traditional business hours, so make sure you check in with their Facebook page for updates on hours. They sometimes have to close early due to weather as well.

Generally, they're open around 9 a.m. on the weekdays and 11 a.m. on the weekends, closing by 1 to 2 p.m.

If you visit this U-pick farm on the weekends, you can usually find an adorable little produce stand offering products from other local farms, like Happy Honey Bee and Big Daddy’s Organics.

Fresh produce coupled with organic honey and berries? What more could you want!

Pappy’s Patch, like any good thing, has been family owned and operated for years.

Their season is usually December through April, and they are open every day that they have berries, so you’ll want to arrive early to get the best.

They usually know a day or two in advance when they’ll be open for sure, so checking that Facebook page is extremely important before planning a trip out to the farm.

On that note, they’re never open Mondays, but the rest of the week and weekends are fair game for picking.
