You Can Train To Be A Jedi At A VR Place In Orlando
You can fly an X-Wing fighter and slash droids in this Star Wars virtual reality experience.
If you're a fan of Star Wars, you've definitely thought more than once about being a lightsaber-slinging, force-wielding bad-ass. As said by Qui-Gon Jinn, your focus determines your reality — and that couldn't be truer when it comes to virtual reality. In Orlando, you can be a Jedi in training — these might really be the droids you're looking for.
Host "Michael" on Airbnb lets you experience a Jedi training session with a lightsaber and an X-Wing spaceship in a flight simulator. The entire event lasts about 2 hours in total, with a short 15-minute briefing on how to use the virtual reality controls and equipment. You'll spend the remaining time soaring through space and slashing baddies.
The X-Wing flight simulation lasts about 25 minutes, and the most recent review from the experience says it really feels like you're flying through the air. The flight portion of the simulation is all done sitting down, which further adds to your immersion in VR. If you're a super fan, dress up in your Rebel flight suit and take your adventure to the next level.
Next comes the Jedi lightsaber training, which is all done standing while you hack and slash. As such, Michael highly recommends wearing comfortable clothes that you can easily move in and close-toed shoes. They even provide you with equipment that will make you feel like you're actually wielding a lightsaber. If you already know how to use the force, dress up as a Jedi — and you'll be in the perfect garb to fight comfortably with your laser sword!
The experience is pretty affordable too — at only $25 per person with an allowed group size of up to 6, you can get your entire Jedi crew together and make this a game-day out. Airbnb host Michael provides you with all the equipment you need to take part in the experience, as well as water. All you're required to bring is yourself, comfy clothes, and closed-toe shoes. You'll meet up with the host at The Guest House — full details will be provided after you book your spot. The host also suggests to bring along your glasses or contact lenses if you need them.
Whether you're a Jedi wanting to tap into your power or a Sith looking to gain the upper hand, this sounds like a super cool adventure. To blast off into space on your own Star Wars X-Wing fighter and use a lightsaber, you can reserve your spot here.
