The Great Reno Balloon Race is a completely free festival that features hundreds of hot air balloons sailing through autumn skies. You can enjoy hours of colorful displays as you sip cozy fall-flavored drinks and explore the city.\nThe Great Reno Balloon Race takes place in the city and will happen this year from September 11 - 13, 2020. According to the official website, it "is the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning event."\nYou can attend the actual event for free, and watch the sky fill up with giant balloons in a rainbow of colors.\nThey take off a short distance to the north of downtown at Rancho San Rafael Park.\nIf you want to drive to the area from the town, you can find public parking for $15.\nThe first race took place in 1982, and back then there were only 20 participants.
