Exploring Texas means finding incredible, explorable scenery and massive bodies of water that you can't find anywhere else. When you can find both hiking trails and swimmable rivers both in one place, that's when you know you've hit the jackpot. There are only a few places where you can, and one of them is Garner State Park. It's just an hour and a half from San Antonio and well worth the drive.

When you arrive at Garner State Park, you'll first have to decide from one of the many hiking trails there are. Some are harder to trek than others, and some are more much more scenic than others. It's totally up to you! Though, we'd recommend the one with hidden caves. It's easy to lose track of where you're going, so make sure to keep a handy map with you.

When you finally reach the top of one of the many massive hills, taking a picture is a must. The views from the top of Garner State Park are incredible. Chances are, you'll be right next to the Frio River, which is exactly where you'll be headed to cool off. The river offers plenty of room for swimming, tubing, and even jumping from rope swings!

The park is open from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, and they recommend checking their Facebook page to keep up to date on whether the park has reached capacity for that day. Their fee for visiting is only $8 per person, a small price to pay for a grand time. Grab your friends and make this your next summer destination!
