San Antonio Is Hosting A Massive Carnival Parade On The River This February
A little party never killed nobody.
The December holiday lights haven't gone out yet, but we are already getting excited for everything 2020 has to offer. There is always something fun to do in Texas, and the new year will be no exception. San Antonio will host a huge mardi gras party on the river this February and we are more than ready to dance all night and catch flying beads by the dozen.
The Mardi Gras Festival & River Parade will feature a procession of decorated river floats filled with color, music, and performers in costumes, all to celebrate a very New Orleanian tradition right here in Texas.
This giant party is completely free for everyone, so get ready for all the fun.
Attendees are a very important part of the celebrations, that's why you and your group of friends are encouraged to come dressed in masks, costumes, and beads.
Get in the mood! The traditional colors of Mardi Gras (purple, pink, teal and golden) are the best choice, but you can also sport also anything glittery and over-the-top.
Once dressed, you are more than ready to hit the party, grab a beer and enjoy the float parade. There will also be live entertainment at Arneson River Theater and La Villita Street, and the floats will pass by to cheer up and throw some beads and good vibes to the festival-goers.
The festival is happening on February 22 & 23 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., but the River Parade will be held on Saturday only, from 4:00 to 6 p.m.
The floats will do two-laps around the two and a half miles downtown area of the River Walk.
If you need to regain strength after all the partying, there will be food trucks on the area, and the restaurants at the River Walk will be offering full service both days.
And, for hydrating purposes, there will be plenty of ice-cold beer available at the event.
