There are plenty of places in The Sunshine State you can explore by kayak. Kayaking at night, however, is a whole different kind of adventure. This Florida nighttime kayak tour with Nature Coast Eco Tours will take you through a hidden jungle river under the stars.

The Sunset & Mars Kayak Tour will take kayakers down the Chassahowitzka River at sunset. The Chassahowitzka is a lush Florida river that will have you feeling as though you're in the middle of a river jungle.

Once the sun sinks into the river, the stars will shimmer through the palm trees as you trek down the Chassahowitzka. You will even be able to see Mars at opposition while journeying down the river.

The tour will take place three separate nights, October 12, 13, and 14, when Mars will be on its closest approach to the Earth, giving you a memorable view of not only the stars, but the red planet, as well.

While paddling down the Chassahowitzka, you will also learn about the star constellations and the planets above you, and how the Native Americans that populated the land used the sky to navigate the river.

The Chassahowitzka River is a gorgeous place during the day as well, where you can kayak down several different springs that branch off the main path.

There, you can dive into underwater caves with crystal clear water.

All equipment you'll need for your watery adventure will be provided. The kayaks will even be outfitted with lights to help with navigation.

The tour will take 2 to 3 hours, and you can book your reservation in advance by calling or texting Nature Coast Eco Tours at 352-422-1122 or emailing them at naturecoastecotours@gmail.com.

The tour is $65 per person, and participants will be emailed an invoice and details on where to meet to launch your adventure.
