There’s nothing more validating than being around your kind, geeking out over everything from your favorite game titles to anime and the obscure. If you're looking for things to do in Florida that will let you relive your childhood, playing your favorite video games at the Florida Game Con 2020 is a great way to do it. Don't worry about concealing your nerdy obsessions — this is a place to unleash your inner geek without judgment. And the best part? It’s totally free to enter! Otakus, gamers, and cosplayers alike will congregate at the Yuengling Center for the 2020 Florida Game Con. Held by the video game club at USF, you'll be able to browse craft vendors for some nerdy merch to add to your collection, as well as get your game on. Those not into the gamer life don't know what they’re missing, and we kind of like it that way. Register for Super Smash Bros, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, and Soul Calibur VI tournaments, and even conquer your friends in foam sword fights, and more! The event is open to the public and free to enter and browse, but each video game tournament requires a $10 registration fee. There will be several other free gaming zones, however, including tabletop gaming, card games, and foam fighting. You can try your hand at a flight simulation, check out the anime car show (it’s a thing), or show off your love for your fave anime and game characters in the cosplay contest. Posted by Video Game Club at USF on Saturday, March 23, 2019 Cons are the perfect place to get creative with costumes you’ve been planning, make new friends through mutual nerdiness, and of course, spend way too much money on one-of-a-kind merch. Posted by Video Game Club at USF on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 The Video Game Club of USF strives to create a safe environment for the gaming community on campus and enrich student life as a whole. By holding free events open to the public, they hope to expose other students to the fun of video games and foster new connections. By the power of friendship! View this post on Instagram Today was great! Helped out the Video Game Club at USF with the Florida Game Con event that they hosted. It was fun even with the technical difficulties. I got to see the event from the eyes of a Video Game Club Member. Learned a lot about the students at USF that put in this hard work for the gaming community. This event had a turn out of over 400+ people. Thanks Idressa (President of the Video Game Club) for asking me to help out and become involved with such a massive event.
