Florida may be a tropical paradise, but the travel bug still bites us every now and again. If you're looking for things to do in Tampa to satisfy your wanderlust, taking a tour of this hidden Hindu temple might be your ticket abroad without ever leaving the Sunshine State.\nThe Hindu Temple of Florida sits nestled amongst the trees on Lynn Rd. in Tampa. Its stark white stone architecture makes for a striking standout amongst the other residential homes dotted along the roadside. You'll almost feel like you've been whisked away to India.\nOn the temple tour, you'll ascend steps up onto a platform & explore the chamber, admiring ornate etchings of spiritual Hinduism imagery as you look out over the Florida landscape. Viewing the temple at sunset offers a pretty dreamy experience too.\nView this post on Instagram Trynna live my Indian Princess dreams🤷🏽♀️ A post shared by Patanwala Sakeena (@patanwalasakeena) on Oct 22, 2018 at 8:31am PDT\nYou'll also find goddess statues & sculptures with shimmering pops of gold reaching up to the blue skies above Tampa.\nView this post on Instagram 🙏🏼 Hindu Temple of Florida 🙏🏼 Turning a corner in a regular Florida neighborhood, you suddenly see this beautiful structure tower into the blue sky. 🇮🇳 It really feels like a quick vacation to India to wander these grounds. It’s oh so beautiful and radiates a deep calm. 👚 Other visitors were nice enough to point us in the direction of the shoe room, where everyone has to leave their shoes before climbing the temple. It’s also appropriate to cover legs and shoulders, so no short shorts or tank tops. 🕉️ You can buy different blessings here or just marvel at the lavishly decorated goddess statues. The receptionist at the top of the temple (“the desk upstairs”) is happy to explain everything to you. 💁🏼 I’m not really religious but I would say I’m spiritual. So I appreciate the atmosphere of holy places. They just have good vibes. 👉🏼 Would you visit? 💾 Save this post for your to-go-list! #visitflorida #atlasobscura @atlasobscura #floridablogger #pureflorida #fun_in_florida #hashtagflorida #exploreflorida #igersflorida #Tampa #florida #TampaBay #iloveTampa #igerstampa #TampaFL #tampaflorida #lovefl #exploretampabay #downtowntampa #tampablogger #stpeteblogger #thisistampabay #tampaproud #unlocktampabay #whenintampa #hiddentampa #livetoexplore #girlsabroad #passportexpress #wearetravelgirls #flashesofdelight A post shared by Lisa | German Wunderkind ✨ (@lisa_ventures) on Sep 15, 2019 at 6:25am PDT\nTouring the temple is completely free, but any donation that you provide will keep the temple beautiful & continue to fund its operation.\nTo schedule a tour with a group of 5 or less, you simply sign up through their website here, where you'll then be notified by email of your scheduled visit; small group temple tours are organized for Saturdays at 1:30 p.m.\nView this post on Instagram Expand your mind to the things you know little about.
