Everybody knows about Coachella the festival, but what about Coachella’s secret swimming hole? This gorgeous oasis isn’t what you’d expect to find in the middle of the desert. The Seven Sisters Waterfall hike is the ultimate hidden gem! This scenic trail will lead you through a thick grove of shaggy palm trees. You’ll have to walk over stepping stones and cross trickling streams near beautiful little waterfalls. Entry to the trail costs $9 per person. Since the falls are seasonal, the best time to go is mid-winter through spring when there's snow runoff from the nearby mountains. Don’t worry - it will still be hot in Palm Springs. Depending on your pace, you can reach the falls in an hour to an hour and a half. This desert oasis is located in the Murray Canyon Trail near Palm Springs. To get there, you'll drive south past downtown Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive. Pass Moorten Botanical Garden and keep your eyes open for a toll booth. You'll turn right there. The hike to the falls is 4.2 miles roundtrip. You’ll start out on a flat sand trail that leads you uphill through a shaded grove and lots of rocks. The area is hot and windy, so make sure to bring sunglasses and a light jacket to wear. View this post on Instagram I was checking to see if any water snakes were chasing me this time 🌝 turns out you SHOULDN’T climb rocks off the trail to find a nice lil private rest spot or else you’ll get stalked by water snakes and then drop your glasses into the river that’s being guarded by the lil shits 🐍 also don’t take your fucking hiking boots off to go in said river or spiders and fire ants will infest them. #thxforcumingtomytedtalk A post shared by Lexi Erstad (@notlexierstad) on Jun 19, 2019 at 8:24pm PDT Seven Sisters Waterfalls: Murray Canyon Trail, Palm Springs Location: Murray Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264 Price: $9 per adult Hours: Spring-Summer 8 am to 6 pm, Fall and winter 8 am to 5 pm Why you should go: The Seven Sisters Waterfalls are the perfect desert oasis!
