In the city, the skyline is filled with the tops of skyscrapers but just north of Atlanta, it's filled with rolling hills and mountaintops. Among this elevated terrain lies one of the best wineries in Georgia and it's giving Napa Valley a run for its money. You don't have to stray far from home to get the whole wine country feel because North Georgia is where it's at.

Yonah Mountain is best known for its hike that leads to outstanding views, but there's another added bonus - and yes, it involves booze. Yonah Mountain Vineyards is an enormous, 200-acre family-owned vineyard, 20 of which are used to plant juicy grapes to create the magic elixir we know as wine.

The winery, founded in 2005, has tons of world-class selections including Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Petit Manseng and Cabernet Sauvignon.

There's nothing quite like sipping a glass of Merlot in the midst of vast greenery and endless mountain views. You can stroll through the grapevines and snap some Instagram shots with a perfect natural setting as your backdrop.

With autumn approaching, it's the ideal time to start planning a trip to the North Georgia mountains to ogle over all the warm colors offered by the fall foliage with a glass of wine in hand.

Although tastings and tours are temporarily unavailable, the vineyard is now open for outdoor glasses and bottles from their current menu.

You can uncork a few during your visit and even grab a bottle or two to take home. You can also purchase a souvenir glass for $5.

They offer tours of their exclusive "wine caves" which include tastings of eight of their current releases.

Some would say you can't have wine without cheese. Yonah has come to the rescue because various sizes of cheese plates are available to fill your belly.

Even if wine isn't your thing, you still may want to check this spot out because they serve craft beer.

In addition to the Yonah Mountain winery, there are tons of other vineyards to explore in the area so you can venture on your own little wine tour in the peaks and valleys good ole Georgia.
