There is something about caves and underground activities that excites us. There is a mysterious feel to them, and there is so much history that intrigues us. If you're looking for cool places to explore in Tennessee, a gorgeous cascading waterfall lives hidden in a cave โ€” and you'll definitely want to add this gem to your bucket list.

Ruby Falls is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee and it's not your average waterfall; it's actually underground. If you were just driving past this location, you would never know it was there, gracefully flowing as it hides beneath the Earth's surface.

One thing people probably do not know about this spot is that it is the tallest and deepest cave waterfall accessible to the public in the United States.

This is one waterfall that you can visit year-round โ€” in the rain, sunshine, or even snow. Ruby Falls stays at 60 degrees all year, which is very nice in the summer & early fall months.

Your guide will teach you about how this spot was accidentally found and about all the formations inside of the cave. Just to give you perspective of how massive this cavern is, to start your tour, you will descend 26-floors by elevator to get to the cave. Did your hair just stand up on your arms?

The whole tour is under a mile to the waterfall and back, but you won't even notice the amount of walking you will be doing because there is so much to look at in the cave.

The actual star of the tour, that gorgeous waterfall, is a massive 145-feet tall and is free-falling. There are neon lights that shine on this part of the cave which makes for an enchanting experience, and some pretty cool pictures too.

If you want more of an experience, you can go on the Lantern Tour, where you walk the cave in the dark, with only your lantern lighting the way. Whether you brave the dark or visit during the day, this is one spot you need to check out.

There are a few other adventures right outside of Chattanooga that will let you explore caves and the outdoors. This underground cave in Tennessee has the bluest water that you can actually tour, and this state park has a mini Niagara Falls
