Some of the most beautiful parts of Texas are the ones less explored. Traveling out to West Texas will almost always guarantee you views of the Lone Star State not seen by many, and the result will take your breath away. There's a scenic drive near El Paso that's well worth the extra miles, and it's the perfect way to take in all that the Lone Star State has to offer from a distance. The Scenic Loop Drive starts on Texas 118 in Fort Davis, Texas, and continues for 75 miles. Along the way, you'll pass places like Limpia Canyon, Mts. Locke, Madera Canyon, and more. All of the "stops" along the way will offer something new and unique from the last. No wonder this is considered one of the most scenic drives in not only Texas but America! The highest elevation you'll reach is nearly 6,700 feet, and by the end of the drive, you'll be back in Fort Davis on Texas 166. If you're sensitive to elevation, be prepared, this is the highest public highway in Texas. View this post on Instagram There is a spot in the Davis Mountains where I feel closest to god. I can sit there watching the sunrise, not saying a word, listening to coyotes howl in the distance, and just be still. It’s my favorite place on earth for many reasons. This spot was here thousands of years before I came upon it...and will be there thousands of years after I’m gone. I’m just grateful for being able to sit among god’s majesty for just a moment in time and enjoy it. #earthday A post shared by Joel Rivas (@joelrivas) on Apr 22, 2020 at 9:55pm PDT Mt. Livermore, Sawtooth Mountain, and Miter Peak are some of the other notable photo-worthy stops along the way. Have those cameras ready, as you'll want to capture lots of creative shots along the way.
