Something you might not know about Mississippi is that it has its own "Little Grand Canyon." Red Bluff, located in the small town of Foxworth, is a spectacular rock gorge that's like a miniature version of Arizona's famous canyon. Add this adventure to your road trip wish list so you can look forward to a day of exploring nature.

Red Bluff is only a 1.5-hour drive from Jackson and a 2-hour drive from New Orleans. It's also free to visit.

The canyon was created over millions of years ago and is a whopping 150 feet deep. And, believe it or not, it's still growing in size due to erosion.

You can hike the 400-ft trail down through the rock bluffs and get sweeping views of the incredible landscape. From there, you can take a look around the canyon or the river.

Bring a camera so you can snap an awesome photo from the center.

You can also roam the forest that surrounds the area, which decorates the rock formation with lush trees.

The rock bluff is found off of Highway 587 in Foxworth. It got its name from the bright hue of the soil, although it appears more orange in color than its counterpart in Arizona.

The closed-off road is off-limits to visitors, who should also avoid getting too close to the cliff ledges. Remember to bring plenty of water if you plan to hike in the heat.

Nature-lovers should give this rock formation a visit. You'll witness amazing canyon views without having to travel way out West.
