National parks across the country have so much to offer hiking enthusiasts of all levels. Sometimes we look for challenging hikes in the mountains, and other times we just want a relaxing stroll through beautiful green and blue nature. The Chickasaw National Recreation Area is home to Buffalo Springs, a gorgeous emerald pool at the end of a hiking trail near Oklahoma City. For the most peaceful and stunning day out, you need to look no further than here.

Buffalo Spring hits the surface in a gorgeous stone pool in a tranquil glade near the eastern edge of Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

The recreation area gets plenty of visits year-round, but they usually flock near Little Niagara and the other big swimming holes.

Buffalo Spring is more out of the way and in a calm area. You can sit on the stone wall and admire the clear water while taking a well-deserved rest.

Antelope and Buffalo Springs Trail is about 1.2 miles roundtrip, making it pretty short and easy to navigate. The trail is very easy to find and perfect for a simple hike through the nature park.

The beautiful spring flows at a rate of approximately 5 million gallons of water daily, bringing coolness to the area and complimenting the trees surrounding the path to look so nice and green.

There are also other trails that branch off from the main trails if you are feeling adventurous and want to explore more of what Chickasaw has to offer.

Whether you choose to come out here alone, with a friend, or with your pup (yes, dogs are allowed in the park and on most of the 20 miles of trails), you are sure to have a tranquil day among nature.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round.
