For Floridians, the Spring season is but a brief pause before the flood of humidity and soaring temps are upon us again. You might already be scouting out new places to explore to beat the heat this season, and Alexander Springs should definitely be on your list. At a constant 72 degrees year-round and crystal clear, there’s plenty to do to and explore at this beautiful Florida spring.

Florida holds 27 first-magnitude springs, and this stunning watering hole is included on the list.

Springs are classified by the amount of water they discharge, and a first-magnitude spring pushes out about 64.6 million gallons per day, which also makes it extraordinarily clear.

Admission to Alexander's watery oasis is only $6 per person, and you can even camp overnight for $24 if you need a little escape. You can also rent canoes to cruise around the water with at $16 for two hours, $24 for 4 hours, or $38 for the entire day.

The banks gently slope down into the clear blue waters, mimicking a natural waterpark. And when you’re done soaking up the sun, you can find shade among the tropical cabbage palms, colorful sweetgum, and maples that surround the spring's banks.

Since the water consistently stays a refreshing 72 degrees, this spring is the ultimate place for those looking to take a dip and unleash their inner mermaid or merman.

There's some great hiking to be had in the area too, like the 0.9-mile Timucuan Trail boardwalk that loops through the palms.

You can also check out two tougher trails if you’re a seasoned hiker.

Starting at the campground, you can tackle the hiking trail that runs from Alexander Springs to Clearwater Lake that totals 9.7 miles or venture off on the path to Farles Lake, which is about 7 miles.

Fishing is also available at Alexander Springs, but make sure your Florida Freshwater Fishing License is valid and up to date.

Plenty of wildlife enjoy Alexander Springs too, so be sure to stay aware for bears and other animals. If you see any, alert the park rangers so they can keep the public and the animals safe.

Whether you're looking to tackle the water by kayak, back float across the surface, or dive deep into the crystal clear depths, Alexander Springs is the perfect place for a refreshing trip.
