The work out is worth the beautiful views.
Yes, there are many hikes in Georgia that are short and great for something to do during the day. There are some hikes that might take a day or two to complete, but the adventure will be beautiful. One of the most gorgeous, 11-mile hikes in North Georgia is the Arkaquah Trail at Brasstown Bald.
Arkaquah Trail is a long 11 miles round trip that will be strenuous at times but will be worth the trip. and adventuring the valleys will be on the to-do list when you start your hike.
There will be scenic views all throughout your adventure, which makes the workout a little more bearable at times. As you end your trek, you will also see some Native American art sketched into boulders.
At the beginning of the hike, there will be long sections of open grass areas that overlooks the Appalachians. It will seem like you can just reach out and touch the clouds as you rise in elevation. Few things are better than being up in the clouds and seeing those views of the mountain tops.
When you get to the last half of the hike, you will start descending and quickly at that. By the time you hit 5.25 miles, you have descended 1,375 feet.
Reaching Track Rock Gap Road, you will get a little history lesson; this will be a nice break before you head on to finish the last half of your journey. The archeological site has over 100 markings and symbols across a few huge boulders.
Once you are done taking your break at this section, you are ready for the last haul of the trek. Hiking up to the summit of Brasstown Bald will be the hardest part of this trail. You have to see the views from Georgia's highest mountain at least once in your life.
The best feeling will be making the walk down the mountain. You will feel so accomplished and glad that you actually conquered the 11 miles. If you are feeling up to it, while you are in North Georgia you can actually, too.
