A free & fun destination for the summer.
It is no secret that the humid state of Georgia is filled with swamps and marshes. This is because the land and soil here are very soft, and it is the humidity and the hot temperatures that cause that.
Alligators, snakes, and other creepy crawlies live in the areas and you might be able to catch a glimpse of them at this destination. This wildlife refuge in South Georgia has a boardwalk and tower where you can observe wildlife and flora.

Georgia has over 7.7 acres of wetlands. At this location, you can experience a section of this, and it not require a boat which is a win-win for us who are not too keen on being so close to alligators.
You can walk and see the marsh area up close by walking on a wooden boardwalk. You can stop at different points during your walk to look over and see if you can see any of the animals that live in this area.
At the end of the boardwalk, there is a 54-foot tower that you can climb the stairs up to have a better view of the refuge. It also makes for great pictures during the famous "golden hour."
Many people have seen alligators and snakes slithering and swimming throughout the land, and you just might see them as well.
