You Can Take An Incredible Wild Animal Safari This Summer In Georgia
We swear this is right in Georgia and not in Africa.
To see wild animals, you either have to go on an African safari or make the trek to your state's zoo and fight the summer crowds. Aside from the large Atlanta Zoo, there is the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain that you might want to explore!
This park has over 550 animals that you can see, feed, and even touch throughout your safari journey.
There are a few options that you can choose from when it comes to your adventure. The most popular option is to experience the safari from the comfort of your own vehicle.
You can stuff some friends into your car and take the 3.5-mile tour through the park.
These animals will literally come through your window, so be prepared to be a little up close and personal. They don't know or have something called personal space.
When you purchase your ticket for the drive-thru option, you also get to walk around the park as well. The online ticket price is $24.95 per person. If you buy a ticket at the gate, the price goes up to $26.95.
If that isn't enough, you also get a complimentary bus tour that is led by a guide that tells you all about the animals and the park.
Honestly, this is all you need for a full day of fun on a boring summer day.
One other option is to rent the famous zebra van. The smaller van can fit seven people, and the larger van can fit 15 and it is first come first serve. The small van is $25 to rent and the larger van is $28.
Many reviews from guests recommend renting a van because the animals are a little too friendly and like to bump into your car a bit.
Some of the exotic animals you will encounter are zebras, giraffes, water buffalos, camels, ostriches, baboons, alligators, and so many more.
If you are like us, the first thing that comes to mind is the safety and care of the animals. The enclosure sizes in the walkabout are inspected annually by the USDA to make sure that they meet the federal guidelines, and the park passes every time.
There is also a veterinarian that is on-call 24-hours just in case anything happens to the animals.
The park is located at 1300 Oak Grove Rd, Pine Mountain, GA 31822 and open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
