For well over a year now, Netflix users have been anticipating the release of the third season of 13 Reasons Why. The show's first two seasons were incredibly controversial and sparked plenty of talk all around the world, so people can't wait to see what the upcoming season has to bring. 13 Reasons Why season 3 premiere date and fourth season were announced by Netflix.

Just this morning, the streaming service released a trailer for the third season of the series. Upon watching the trailer, fans instantly noticed that this one is much different from previous seasons, and even compared it to the likes of Riverdale, and How to Get Away with Murder.

After facing a lot of backlash for their dramatization of suicide in the first season, Netflix has decided to change directions of the show for season three. The upcoming season will still tell the story of death, but this time it's the murder of Bryce Walker, a high school football star who mysteriously disappeared.

As much drama as there is amongst the kids of Liberty High, they're all still linked together by their secrets, many of which are dark. The students would obviously like to pretend that they know nothing about the death of Bryce, but someone has to know something, and season three is all about finding out who the culprit is.

The official release date for season three of 13 Reasons Why is August 23, and along with this news, Netflix also announced that the show will be renewed for a fourth and final season, although no details about the cast, plot, or episode count have been released yet.

13 Reasons Why was only ever anticipated to be a limited series with one season, so the fact that it's made it to season four, especially after facing so much backlash has left people absolutely shocked. It'll definitely be interesting to see what Netflix has in store for the upcoming season, and how exactly they plan to end such a harrowing tale.
