6 Netflix Original Movies That Are Just As Suspenseful As 'Bird Box'

Get ready for some seriously chilling content.

If you haven't already heard, the entire internet is blowing up over Netflix's newest original thriller, Bird Box. The film stars Sandra Bullock and follows her on her journey to protect her loved ones from the monsters that are threatening mankind.  It's safe to say the movie will keep you on your toes if nothing else.

Seeing as it only takes a few short hours to watch the movie, and there's no fun in watching the same movie over and over again, we've scouted out some other Netflix Originals that have the same amount of suspense as Bird Box, but totally different plot lines. If you're looking for something new to watch this weekend, look no further:

Cam

I recently stumbled across this movie while browsing through Netflix, and it's safe to say that I definitely wasn't disappointed. Cam is a film that takes something that is becoming more widely accepted in our society today (amateur camera shows) and puts a unique and thrilling twist on them. As the movie plays out, you'll have no idea how to feel - or what to expect.

I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House

This movie plays on a lot of typical thriller cliches, but it does them well enough to keep you entertained. I Am the Pretty Thing tells the story of Lily, a live-in nurse who moves to New England to take care of her patient - a former horror novelist who now suffers from dementia. The longer she stays in the house, the more Lily begins to question of the paranormal activities she's noticing are coming straight from the pages of her patient's books.

ARQ

If you enjoy science fiction, there's no doubt in my mind that ARQ will keep you on the edge of your seat. The film tells the story of a day that's repeating over and over, leaving the characters stuck in a time loop where they're constantly facing enemies who are set out to destroy a new energy source that could potentially save humanity. Who will win? You'll have to watch to find out!

Gerald's Game

In terms of psychological thrillers, this one really hits the nail on the head. Gerald's Game is based on a Stephen King novel by the same name, and tells the story of a couple who tries to bring a flame back into their marriage through BDSM. Things don't go as planned, unfortunately, and Gerald's wife is left to face her inner demons so she can finally be free.

You Get Me

Considering that Bella Thorne and Nash Grier play two of the leading roles, I wasn't anticipating much out of this film. I will admit, I was pleasantly surprised though. You Get Me takes the typical teenage romance movie, filled with drama and heartbreak, and adds an unreal level of suspense and crazy to it that make it totally unique from other teen movies. I highly recommend checking it out on your next girls night!

Apostle

Many thriller movies are set in present day, or even the future. Apostle, however, is different - it takes you way back in time. This film deals with religious cults, and the many secrets that they behold. In Apostle, a mysterious man travels to a small island to save his sister, who has been kidnapped by a religious cult. While there, things become even more twisted, causing him to uncover all kinds of messed up secrets.
