If you haven't already heard about the chilling series that is Dirty John, then you need to stop what you're doing and get on Netflix ASAP. If you simply watch the show, you'll realize quickly that it's seriously terrifying. If you watch the show knowing that it's based on a true story though, you'll never want to go on a Tinder date ever again. Once you finish the series, you'll obviously need some new content to keep you entertained, so here are six shows to watch on Netflix Canada that are just as disturbing as Dirty John.
If you're one of the few people left who hasn't watched the show YOU yet, I highly suggest you hop on the bandwagon ASAP. A lot of shows receive way too much hype for what they're actually worth, but this isn't one of them. YOU had me, and thousands of other people hooked from the very first episode. The sick and twisted main character, Joe Goldberg, goes to astounding lengths to ensure that nobody else has a shot at the girl he's infatuated with, Beck. As the show unfolds, you'll quickly find out that what Joe sees as endearing is actually straight up f*cked.
If you enjoyed the suspense that came along with Dirty John then you'll love Safe. The Netflix Original dropped in May of 2018 and is about a widowed father who's struggling to build a relationship with his two teenage daughters. When one of his daughters goes missing, Tom Delaney's world is turned upside down. As the story unfolds, a dark web of lies and secrets come out while Delaney attempts to find his daughter.
If you don't mind watching shows in foreign languages, we definitely suggest you watch the French drama, Perfume. The series is about five friends who have an affinity for perfumes... and murder? As the series unfolds we find ourselves tangled up in a mysterious death, which eventually leads to an outpouring of dark, disturbing secrets that were meant to be hidden forever.
Although The Five isn't a Netflix original, it's still got a thrilling storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The series is about two brothers, one of whom has been missing and presumed dead, since the age of five. Now, 20 years later, DNA has shown up at the scene of a crime, linking to Jesse, who now suddenly may not be dead. His family and the police are utterly baffled as they try to uncover the shocking case.
How far would you go to protect your family? For some people, their loyalty is undying, but for others, water is definitely thicker than blood. In the series Bloodline, the Rayburn family is very well respected in their hometown. All of that's about to change though when the black sheep of the family shows up and threatens to expose their deepest, darkest secrets.
Much like Dirty John, Gypsy is about romantic relationships and how dangerous they can sometimes be. Jean Holloway is a therapist, wife, and mother who lives a happy life. Until she catches feelings for one of her clients, that is. Holloway feels overcome with the urge to act on her feelings and becomes way too involved in the feelings and personal lives of her clients. A female version of John, perhaps?
