The country music gods are smiling upon Alberta this Wednesday, November 20. Each summer, Calgary is home to a massive country music festival, Country Thunder. Country Thunder pulls in some big names every year, and Albertans always wait eagerly to hear just who those country stars are. Finally, after much anticipation, the festival has announced that one of their headliners in 2020 will be Keith Urban. Keith Urban Country Thunder tickets are only $60.
If you've ever tried to see the Australian performer in concert before, you'll know that $60 for a ticket is basically pocket change.
After posting a teaser on Twitter yesterday that read "ALBERTA! We’re announcing ONE headliner TOMORROW! Any guesses?!" Country Thunder announced today that that special someone would be none other than Keith Urban himself.
The performer's headlining show will be taking place on Sunday, August 23 and you should probably be there.
This announcement comes just a few days before Urban performs at the Grey Cup halftime show in Calgary.
Grey Cup week always erupts with excitement in Calgary, and this big news will be putting an extra spring in our steps as we watch the half-time performance. We can only imagine what the rest of the 2020 lineup will bring.
This announcement comes at the perfect time. With a massive snowstorm underway in Calgary, picturing a summer's day at Country Thunder reminds us that summer in Alberta is actually a thing.
Sadly, we need to wait another eight days to find out the rest of the lineup which will be announced on November 28, 2019.
If last year's lineup is any indication of how stacked this year's will be, we know it will be legendary. Last year brought Country music superstars like Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, and Jason Aldean, to name a few.
Country Thunder hosts concerts all around North America every year. They started things off in Wisconsin and Arizona back in ’96 and have since launched festivals in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Over the years, they’ve brought in legendary performers like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, and Taylor Swift.
